Ecologic Copper-Free Anti-Fouling Marine Hull Paints:  ePaints do not rely on persistently toxic copper metal for anti-fouling properties. Absence of copper reduces weight, averts galvanic corrosion to hull-fasteners, wetted accessories, fittings, and adds no materials to the water column that are poisonous to sea life and fauna. ePaint uses patented ingredients that react to ambient light, and oxy-gen in the water, to form a hydrogen peroxide film over the wetted hull surface that inhibits hard fouling. Soft fouling protection is provided by EPA approved short after-life biocides. ePaint has long been the principal hull paint on US Coast Guard aluminum hulls, on many Navy embarked craft, and are increasingly used as OEM and maintenance coatings on working and recreational craft.
